Has product placement in films ever convinced you to purchase a product? or do you feel it simply detracts from a film?

I can’t stand commercials on TV and don’t pay any attention to what products are being used in movies. If the advertisers want to waste their money placing their products in movies …it’s ok by me as long as they keep them in the back round and don’t actually make them commercials

I really don’t care.  I don’t buy anything just because it was in a movie.  E. T. Phone home.

I often notice the product placement since usually a product is generic, like “soda” instead of Coke, or “crunchyies” instead of Cheerios.  But it doesn’t make me buy a product

Companies pay big bucks to get their products in a film.  They’re not genetic, and the brand is prominantly displayed

I don’t like commercials, and they have gotten longer and there’s more of them.  In movies, I sometimes notice products, but that wouldn’t  make me buy them.

I agree they are too long and to many.

I have never been influenced by any product placement in movies as far as being influenced to purchase it/them.  I have only taken notice of those that I already purchase or have purchased.

If used subtely in movies, I don’t mind brand names appearing on products because I think it represents the greater reality–that’s life at least in most countries, but don’t kid anyone–the specific brands are not randomly selected, and there should not be any commercial influence accepted by  the movie producer for product names to be  placed.

No product placement has never influenced me to watch movies and is sometimes a nuisance I try to avoid that type of influence

Sometimes I will notice a product in a film but that has no influence on whether I will purchase it or not.

Sometimes I wonder why a product is shown in a movie and usually I wonder why, like “Oh, they.. must not be doing very well. I wonder what might be wrong with them” I really never thought of it as a commercial. Cars have been in movies for ever. When did a Ford become a commercial.

    I just watch the movie.

I am often irritated by the blatant placement of particular products as they do not necessarily add to the entertainment nor do they seem to be relevant to the “normal” day of a given character. The product is just there suddenly and in your face

I am not swayed either way.  I like what I like and dislike what I dislike.  However, sometimes the product placement is too obvious.  It doesn’t help I know that manufacturers pay the production company to use their products.

Product placement ads in movies are sometimes cute, but have never influenced us to buy the product.

I find product placement interesting as a marketing technique;  I’ve spent many years in retail and am amazed by what will influence people.  That said, I don’t believe product placement has any influence in my life.

Product placement in films has never influenced me to purchase a product, at lease not consciously. Product placement, if done correctly, seems natural to the moment in the film. A diner scene with particular brands of ketchup and mustard on the table in the background, for example. When the camera seems to purposely pan to show a label or an actor is holding a product in a way that obviously presents to label to the camera, that’s when it gets distracting and annoying..

ONLY AT CERTAIN TIME’S I MAY PAY ATTENTION TO PRODUCT’S THAT ARE IN A MOVIE IF IT’S A ARTICEL OF CLOTHING  I MAY PAY MORE ATTENTION IF IT CATCH’ES MY EYE LIKE A PAIR OF SHOE’S OR A WATCH ON SOMEONE ARM  SO FROM VARIOUS TIMES I DO LOOK  AND THERE SOMETHING’S THAT ATTRACT MY ATTENTION CERTAIN THNGS GET MY ATTENTIION

I may notice them, but not influenced. I dont care  if they are products deliberately placed or not. Everything is commercial. If some company wants to place their product in a film or TV show, dont bother me none.

I once bought a Mr Fusion just becasue it was in Back To The Future. Just kidding of course. We all think we are immune to commercials but they must be working. I far prefer product placement ads vs interuppting the whole show with a dedicated commercial. Many years ago when the remote control was invented I predicted it would be the demise of commercials, and that all advertising in the future would be via clever product placement. Well, I was wrong, at least so far.  Wouldn’t you rather watch an hour and a half movie with subtle product placement than a two hour movie with constant commercial interruptions?

I hardly ever notice product placement in a movie, and I don’t think it would sway me very much even if I did.

I am aware of it but it doesn’t really affect me one way or the other. Certainly doesn’t make me want to necessarily buy the product and though it’s a tiny bit of a distraction it does place the product in my consciousness.

The first product placement, that I can remember, was for Reese’s Pieces, in E.T.! I didn’t like them then, and I still don’t! They would better spend their money on other advertising.

I don’t buy just because it was in a movie.  If it is subtle it doesn’t bother me as much as those that are blatant in their intentions.  Those are more likely to persuade me not to buy that product

I ignore ads and product placement, not worth my time.  I do my own research and make up my own mind about products/services that I buy,  ads and product placement have absolutely no impact on my decisions.
